1. I like math and thought the discussion of the ranking of collections was interesting. But I didn’t really like the ranking algorithm. Try it again with my method.
   Which is (#machines)*( 1 /( sumovermachines( 1/rank)))

   So if you have 5 machines that were the top 5 it is
   5*(1/(1/1 + 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/4 + 1/5)) = 2.18

   And if it was 10-14
   5*(1/(1/10 + 1/11 + 1/12 + 1/13 + 1/14))= 11.83

   Or like a real collection with some low ranked games
   5*(1/(1/1 + 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/150 + 1/200)) = 2.71

   So the low ranked games don’t dominate the result. But if you don’t have any high ranked games you get a much lower ranking.

   5(1/(1/150 + 1/200 + 1/210 +1/230 + 1/250)) = 201.8

   Do this with your collections and I think it makes a better description of the relative worth of a collection.

   Love the show. I’ve listened to all the episodes. I started with 11 or 12 and went back and started at 1 and continued. Keep up the good work.

2. I think the important part of John Trudeau’s comment about pro machines not making a profit is that they are covering the fixed costs of production. These machines are paying for the laborers, the machinery, the factory, and the design and management teams. Without making them they couldn’t afford to make the LEs, which I’m sure do turn a profit, but also help pay for the rest of the costs associated with manufacturing. Just because they aren’t a profit maker, doesn’t mean they are not important part of the financial equation that keeps the factory running so it can make a profit.
